We got up Sunday morning, July 19 (what would have been my dad's 77th birthday). After getting awake, we packed the car, tore down the tent, & I started the car to head home...I had to take the car out of gear because, when I started it, it lunged forward like I didn't even have my foot on the clutch. Then I couldn't even get the car into gear after I started it! Houston, I think we have a problem... |
We drove all he way home with NO clutch. Seems all the water from the night before had soaked my electronic clutch sensors. Good thing Splsh used to drive a truck without using the clutch, huh?! It was a bit hairy getting out of Charleston--we had to turn off the ignition at stoplights....but once we hit the interstate, we did ok! |
I napped most of the way home--which was what Splsh was *supposed* to have done--but I couldn't hear the quiet engine well enough to synchronize the gears, so he had to drive home instead. C`est la vie again, huh? (BTW, the clutch was dried out by the time we got home, and we haven't had a problem with it since.) |
If you think ours was a fantasy-type or "dream" elopement, it *wasn't*....we had everything from forgetting a MAJOR part of our wedding attire (my wedding gown) to floods, car, & financial problems. But, ya know what??? It was pretty damned wonderful *JUST* like it was! Splsh & I had to lean on each other, but that's an integral part of *any* relationship anyway, right??? As a matter of fact, I guess this picture pretty much says it all for me...I love you, David...with my entire being!!!!!!! |
